SWIP UK: Mentoring & Crisis Information
Research into the progress of women in philosophy indicates that things can still often go less well for women than for men. If you are facing difficulties relating to your career — for example, graduate supervision, job interviews, fixed-term contracts, sexual harassment, probation, allocation of duties, research leave or promotions — you are unlikely to be alone. If you would like to discuss your situation in confidence with a member of the SWIP UK executive who has volunteered to support women in your position, please contact Jennifer Saul.
Even when you're not facing difficulties, it can still be helpful to
have a mentor. In partnership with the British Philosophical
Association, SWIP UK has a mentoring scheme for women in philosophy
from first-year PhD onwards.
